Zeyu Yao

Growing up in Singapore, I’ve always been drawn to big questions at the intersection of science, technology, and people. I care deeply about making science and tech more accessible and inclusive, and I’m always looking for new ways to connect ideas across disciplines.I’m a high school student who loves building things. Over the past few years, I’ve explored bioinformatics through research at the AI.MED Lab at UAB, where I developed BioRSP to study gene expression patterns, and presented my work at conferences like IEEE BHI and ISMB. At the same time, I’ve organized large-scale AI, leadership, and computing events to work with students around the world through the International Junior Honor Society and other miscellaneous initiatives.Above all, I try to stay curious, collaborative, and grounded.
