Uriel Beristain

In my role, I assist in the full execution of promotions like events, van hits, and other street team activities. Additionally, I operate promotional vehicles, perform weekly vehicle inspections, and run on-site promotions. In addition to these duties, I hang banners and other staging components, operate audio and other equipment, record events, and set up, take down, and transport promotional event equipment as needed.

As an intern, I helped create marketing campaigns and optimize the company website, Not Your Average Nutritionist, and focused on search engine optimization. I also helped during the creative process of forming social media posts.

I overseen store operations such as opening and closing, greeting customers, handling cash, cleaning, and adapting store processes in order to function in a challenging and dynamic environment during the pandemic.

In this position, I help students understand different subjects as well as assess, assist, and encourage the students in the learning processes. I also reviewed materials used in classes, explained various topics, and answered all the doubts and questions of the student regarding to that topic.

In this position, I applied my knowledge of Division 1 wrestling and help kids ages 5-18 work on their wrestling technique and teach them life skills on and off the mat such as teamwork, discipline, and respecting those around you.

The Summer Undergrad Research Program provides research experiences for students to work alongside Cal Poly faculty. The project I worked on with Professor Weber was to answer the question, “Do CPA initiatives increase search volume for firms, and, if so, does this increase benefit firms more than CSR initiatives?”. Through Google Trends, I collected search volume data for firms that initiated corporate social responsibility (CSR) compared to corporate political advocacy (CPA).

As a server, I provided general customer service, cooked pizza and other dishes from scratch, cleaned the restaurant, took orders, stocked supplies, closed the store, cleaned equipment, and helped with other tasks as needed.
