The Boston University PEMBA program was one of the most enriching experiences of my life. I was able to meet and become friends with intelligent and driven individuals from many industries ranging from finance and accounting to high tech and biopharmaceuticals. My greatest learning came from my peers as they shared their experiences and insights on business problems we discussed in class. I learned a great deal of specific knowledge during my time at BU including how investments and the financial markets work. I believe this knowledge fits well in my toolkit as I start my new career in the financial services industry. Most importanly however, I learned the importance of building and fostering relationships based on mutual respect and collaboration. No one is able to do everything needed to run a business or anything for that matter. The most successful individuals empower and trust those around them to lend a helping hand.

My time at GMU was full of ups and downs. I learned the importance of working hard and being self motivated. The first part of my academic career I did not have the drive needed to live up to my potential. However the second half of my career I found that drive and really learned a great deal from the excellent faculty. My final semester I finished third in a business plan competition where I came up with the idea for a non-profit focusing on improving the live's of military families through training, job placement for spouses, and childcare support. My goal in life is to hash out this plan and take the business plan to the next step.
