Steven Lake, CFS

Steven Lake is the Department of Public Safety Director at Carson-Newman University (TN). With more than 28 years in law enforcement, Lake oversees all security operations at Carson-Newman University including Police Services, Security Guard Services, Emergency Management, Title IX, Clery Act, and Department of Education Mandates. Lake is also responsible for the Fire Safety, Animal Control as well as the Access Control Section, Pass and ID Section and the Traffic Control Section. Lake is an expert in financial crimes, cyber-crimes and terrorism. He began his law enforcement career in 1990 with the Johnstown (NY) Police Department and retired from the Tucson Police Department in 2014 as the financial crimes expert assigned to the Drug Enforcement Agency’s Task Force in Tucson, AZ. Lake retired from the United States Air Force Reserve with over 28 years of service, he has specialized training in military law enforcement and investigations, information assurance and personnel, information, industrial, and nuclear security disciplines. Lake earned a bachelor’s degree with distinction in criminal justice administration from Park University (MO).
