Steve is the founder of ADISA which is a UK government recognised certification program for data processors focusing specifically on the area of ICT asset disposition. With over 20 years’ experience working with some of the largest blue-chip companies in the world and with leading OEM, Steve is an internationally recognized expert on data protection with a specialist field of data processor management. Steve founded ADISA in 2010 to address poor risk management taking place within the IT Asset Disposal process. The ADISA Industry Standard was released in 2011 to focus on the service of asset recovery and currently has certified sites in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. The ADISA product certification program was launched in 2012 to focus on the tools which sanitize media and is the only program worldwide to confirm overwriting claims on solid state and other flash media. Through this program ADISA works with vendors throughout the world including China, Israel, India, UAE as well as recognized brands in Europe and the United States. In 2012 Steve worked with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office and wrote much of the ICO guidance notes which were released to help businesses comply with data protection legislation in this area. Steve is also the author of the National Computer Centre (NCC)’s guidance notes on how to manage risk when disposing of assets. In 2015, Steve was shortlisted for the Personal Contribution to IT Security Award from the Computer Security Magazine and ADISA won the award for Education and Training Provider of the Year. ADISA was also shortlisted for the UK Compliance Award in 2018. In 2019, ADISA launched the ADISA Research Centre which is the only forensic laboratory in the world, focused on data sanitization which further enhances ADISA’s ability to speak with authority on IT asset disposal. I originally founded ADISA in 2010 and since then it has evolved into a group of companies operating in different areas of Data Protection. ADISA Certification offers third party certification on Standards written to manage risk and provide assurance of regulatory compliance within different business processes. The ADISA Asset Recovery Standard 8.0 has been approved by the UK ICO for approval under Article 42 of the GDPR and the audit process accredited by UKAS against Article 43 of the GDPR and ISO 17065. ADISA Research Centre is a global leading forensic laboratory offers research and certification into data sanitisation services. I am responsible for all aspects of the development of the business from sales activity to forming strategic relationships. We've worked with NCSC, ICO, MoD and CCS as well as countless data controllers not only in the UK but into overseas territories such as the US, Western Europe and most recently into Asia Pac.
