It is difficult to imagine having been an architect for over four decades, and there is still so much to learn! Time flies, In fact, it really began decades earlier when I was 6 and made a practice of "inspecting" all the houses in my neighborhood that were under construction. Back then they never locked anything up. As a result, after a couple years of such rounds I was able to recite all the steps in building a house from excavation to finish. I still get a thrill out of walking a construction site. Buildings are significant undertakings for any organization. It has been my pleasure to work with great clients whose vision I could help realize in built form. The true excitement comes, when after a project is completed, and it comes alive as people take occupancy of their space. It is no longer mine, if it ever was beyond initial concept. I am just another visitor, and I can see how people really use their building, often in more interesting ways than we were ever able to imagine during its design and construction. Such a treat.
