About
Dr. Simos Simeonidis is Managing Partner of Kos Biotechnology Partners, a global life sciences investment firm he co-founded in 2024 with Alex Tzoukas. He is also the Co-Founder and former CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Delsona Therapeutics, a healthcare company spun out of Columbia University, that uses Focused Ultrasound to deliver therapeutics through the Blood Brain Barrier into the CNS, with applications in neurology (Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, ALS etc) and oncology (Glioblastoma Multiforme, DIPG etc).Dr. Simeonidis is a biotechnology industry expert with 30 years’ experience, who trained as an academic scientist, before transitioning to the biopharmaceutical industry and investment side of the sector. He spent a decade as a molecular geneticist dissecting signal transduction pathways and understanding mechanisms of disease (University of Chicago, Columbia, Harvard) and was appointed to the Faculty at Harvard Medical School and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He transitioned out of academia, into the business side of industry, starting out with roles at Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline and Novartis. Next, he spent more than a decade analyzing public and private biotechnology companies for a number of global investment banks (including Morgan Stanley, Cowen, RBC). He has also served as a board member in a number of private and public companies (Regulus Therapeutics, Sarissa Capital Acquisition Corporations, Shoreline Biosciences and Delsona Therapeutics). Prior to founding Kos Biotechnology Partners, Dr. Simeonidis held senior investment positions at Ally Bridge Group, a $2B global life sciences investment firm, where he was Managing Partner, co-CEO and co-CIO, and at Sarissa Capital Management, a $1.5B biotechnology-focused activist firm, where he was Partner, Senior Managing Director, Portfolio Manager and Co-Head of Investment Research. Dr. Simeonidis received his B.S. in Biology from Loyola University Chicago, and his M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in Cellular, Molecular and Biophysical Sciences from Columbia’s College of Physicians & Surgeons, where he cloned the mouse IkB epsilon gene. He completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship in the laboratory of Professor Tucker Collins at Harvard Medical School and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he worked on the transcriptional regulation of gene expression via the NF-kB/IkB pathway. Dr. Simeonidis also holds an MBA in Healthcare Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Member of a Task Force of international biotechnology experts, assigned by the Prime Minister's Office, to perform a 2-year study on the feasibility and potential of the establishment of an innovation-based biotechnology industry in Greece. The Task Force was led by Dr. Stelios Papadopoulos, Chairman of the Board of Biogen, Exelixis, Regulus and Epikast, and included industry luminaries Albert Bourla, Noubar Afeyan, Spyros Artavanis-Tsakonas, Costis Maglaras, George Scangos, George Yancopoulos, Nick Galakatos, Emil Kakkis, Mene Pangalos, Eric Cantor and others. The Task Force completed the study and presented its findings to the Prime Minister and his team in May 2022.
