I am an Energy Systems, Policy and Data Specialist with over 14 years of experience in energy policy and planning, energy economics, energy statistics, energy modelling, renewable energy, climate and energy planning, and energy information systems.Currently serving as Senior Policy Officer for Energy Statistics at the African Energy Commission (AFREC) of the African Union, I lead and coordinate continental initiatives that strengthen energy information systems, harmonise energy statistics, enhance energy security monitoring, and support evidence-based policymaking across 55 African Union Member States.I serve as the Coordinator of the Strategy for Harmonisation of Energy Statistics in Africa and Manager of the African Energy Information System (AEIS), overseeing the collection, validation, analysis, quality assurance, and dissemination of continental energy statistics and energy balance data. I also coordinate the African Energy Security Index Programme and support the development of continental energy databases, monitoring frameworks, and flagship energy statistics publications.Prior to joining AFREC, I held progressively senior positions within Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Energy and Power Development, where I contributed to the development of key national policies, including the Renewable Energy Policy, Biofuels Policy, Energy Efficiency Policy, E-Mobility Policy, Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and climate mitigation frameworks.
