Activities and Societies: Student Representative for A-Level French

Degree focussing on international issues, political history and political philosophy combined with the study of French language and culture. Units included: General language grade 3 (French), General language grade 1 (Arabic), Introduction to International Relations: States, conflict and cooperation, Global issues. This course focuses on theoretical study and practical projects which develop transferable skills in: -Researching a chosen topic area, writing script and performing on camera for language project news report. -Conducting research for various tasks using tools and institutions to access different sources. -Setting own deadlines and managing workloads independently. -Working in group projects with large teams as well as smaller groups. Activities and Societies: Committee role on Amnesty International Society, Rotoract Society, LGBT Society, Kayaking Society, Green Society, Regular volunteer for political party

Course taught areas such as: -How to explain and defend the human rights of refugees -The role of governments in preventing human rights violations against refugees -How to challenge misconceptions, prejudices and discriminatory attitudes and behaviours towards refugees and asylum seekers -How to take action to protect the rights of people in need of international protection
