At CU Boulder I have engaged in the roles of both student and teacher. I have gained experience in the classroom and interpersonal communications through my core classwork and TA responsibilities. As an RA, I have learned many skills applicable to any R&D career, such as teamwork, problem solving, experimental design, and critical thinking. Some specific areas of training I've received as a part of my research projects include Clean Room training, Photolithography, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Single Crystal Synthesis via Chemical Vapor Transport, Cryogenics, and troubleshooting/repair of many different electronics and plumbing systems, including water, gas, cryogenic, and high vacuum systems. Some accomplishments thus far in my career here are constructing and implementing the single crystal synthesis lab and growing the first single crystals made here via Chemical Vapor Transport in the CU physics department, and fully refurbishing and automating key experiments in the lab.

As a student a Miami University I immersed my self in my academic studies as well as philanthropic efforts through the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. I conducted collaborative undergraduate research between the mechanical engineering and physics departments for four years while earning degrees in both fields. As part of my research I presented at multiple forums, including the College of Arts and Science Alumni Committee, The Undergraduate Research Forum, the American Society for Mechanical Engineers conference held at Wright State, and at the Ohio Aerospace Institute outside the NASA Glenn Aerospace Center as a part of the Ohio Space Grant Consortium. After my research had been published in Polymer Testing, I was awarded the Outstanding Senior Award by the Physics department. As Philanthropy chair for my fraternity's small chapter, I set records for donation totals for our chapter as well as reaching the second highest donations from our fraternity nationwide.
