GOES was a small dial-up ISP who had made big changes and decided to become a CLEC (Competative Local Exchange Carrier) in an effort to provide DSL services to their customers. During my time there i worked under the tutelage of Norm Brandinger where I provided assistance working with and through different LECs (Local Exchange Carriers) to get service orders in place for customers and the company alike. I also included providing phone support, and if needed, onsite support to some of our larger customers which would involve me diagnosing customer equipment for LAN and/or configuration issues.

My duties and responsibilities for this position included coordinating, scheduling, and facilitating printing and production services for M&M Mars associates and executives. This entailed reviewing print, and copy requests, checking legalities (copyrights) and ensuring the security and confidentiality of all prints and copies. Consultation services would be performed by me to address production processing time, as well as choosing the appropriate paper and ink combination for the work being done. With the job specs set I would asses a cost and budget for the projects as well as ensure that all supplies are accounted for and properly stocked. Knowledge of standard publishing programs such as Publisher, In-Design, and Adobe Illustrator was also essential to completing the print tasks.

I provided sound support by first understanding a companies needs and desires for the operation of their company, followed by designing a plan and process for implementation with tools in place to measure the results quantitatively. The plans would vary from company to company based upon their needs and desires. Some plans are designed for overall cost reductions, or others need to see an increase in accountability and efficiency.

Performed essential administrative and labor management duties in order to ensure efficient day-to-day store operations. Administrative duties included filing paper work, budgeting payroll, ordering products and store supplies, and analyzing sales numbers. Labor management included interviewing potential associates, training new hire employees, creating employee schedules, monitoring team performance, and coaching team members. I also perform customer service duties, such as greeting customers, providing assistance, and completing transactions. I must also ensured employees follow all safety and loss prevention guidelines as outlined by CVS corporate offices. I no longer work for CVS due to some business practices supported by my region of doctoring the employee hours to not pay overtime to increase bonuses for management at the top of the payscale. Needless to say, I did not approve.

As a person always looking at helping others and essentially trying to do the right thing, I had returned to school to get some medical training and accepted a job working in a 1st rate hospital to get some hands on experience. This position allowed me to observe top rate doctors, surgeons, and anesthesiologists to get a head start on my medial training as quickly as possible. I was responsible for ensuring that their medical equipment was always working as desired and calibrated properly. I would stock their carts, act as an extra set of hands for certain procedures, and provide anesthetics during long cases. This position allowed me to learn a great deal about handling pressure and prioritization of tasks to the fullest.

Learned how to develop highly effective programs making use of a database back-end. The database package I learned on was Oracle database and the web programming languages were HTML, CSS, Javascript, and PHP. From a compiled PC side of things the primary focus of the course was dedicated to Java, and Visual Basic as the main programming languages."]

This is where I learned the foundation of how Unix works. The partitioning schemes and layout of their file system. The basics of adding and removing users and groups and how to setup a system. How to add and remove programs, setup cronjobs, and the default save locations used for certain types of files. These basic skills proved very useful and I continued my education on my own afterwards in the Linux world."]
