Mechanical & Testing Engineer @ fischer BAUBOT

About

I am a mechanical engineer and prototyping specialist based in Vienna, focused on developing and validating advanced mechatronic systems. Currently, I work in a robotics startup environment, where I lead design verification, system integration, and testing of automated platforms and their application packages. My past research interests include industry advancement by robotics, innovatively engineered bio-based materials, and manufacturing optimisation. I am an Guiness World Record holder for most drilled holes by semi-automatic system per 24 hours, a past member of the Engineering Mechanics Institute (EMI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Society of Wood Science and Technology. (SWST). I received my PhD in Mechanical Engineering Sciences at the Graz University of Technology, Austria, at the Institute of Production Engineering. During my PhD studies, I also acquired knowledge about wood and wood-based products at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria, at the Institute of Wood Technology and Renewable Materials. Before that, I finished my Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic, in Mechanical Engineering Design. My previous experience included research focused on highly dynamic cutting and wood-related industries advancement, studying smart magnetorheological fluids used in damping systems, a long-time prosthetic feet fatigue testing stand developer, and a university lecturer of 3D modelling, design and technical drawing. I cooperated in applying and solving multiple international projects funded by different agencies in partnership with many universities and industrial partners.

During my studies at BOKU I: - learned wood anatomy from tree to a microscopic level, wood physics and quality aspects of wood and fibres. - explored many engineering wood products and focused on their fabrication, utilization, mechanical behaviour and, of course, recycling possibilities. - was surprised, as a mechanical engineer, by how complex wood utilization is. Wood, as statistically hard to predict, highly anisotropic and exceptionally moisture-dependent material, is a bigger challenge for every engineer and researcher than I expected.
