I build infrastructure for how Africa moves, trades and pays. I am the founder and CEO of GoPikiPiki Technologies, a pan-African super-app registered across eight markets — Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and South Africa — with commercial anchors in Nairobi and Accra. The platform runs on five integrated pillars: MOVE (ride-hailing), DELIVER (food and parcels), LOGISTICS (freight and load board), PAY (Roam Wallet, cross-border settlement on PAPSS rails) and TAIFA AI, a trade intelligence engine built for the AfCFTA era. The thesis is simple: no single vertical generates enough daily financial behaviour to make embedded fintech viable in African markets. A super-app does. Every ride, delivery and freight load feeds the data layer that makes credit, payments and trade intelligence work. Multi-vertical is not scope creep — it is the minimum surface area for the model. Alongside GoPikiPiki, I founded FIC Compliance, a RegTech SaaS that automates goAML regulatory filing for financial institutions in Ghana, serving the compliance obligations of banks, savings and loans companies, and other reporting entities. This work is personal. My father, Ras T. Makonnen, was one of the organisers of the 1945 Fifth Pan-African Congress in Manchester and part of the generation that laid the groundwork for African independence and the OAU. That legacy taught me that African integration is not a slogan — it is logistics, payment rails, and trade infrastructure, built patiently, market by market. GoPikiPiki is my contribution to finishing that work in software. I operate across the Kenya–Ghana corridor.
