I got his start in aviation at a very young age as an airport rat in Hayward California. In the early 1980's there were no fences around airports so many days were spent at the airport after school washing airplanes and opening up aircraft for senior mechanics doing inspections. I would go on to get my A&P license in 1993 at the North American Institute of Aviation in Conway, SC. After over a decade of GA maintenance he attended the Reno National Championship Air Races in 2004 and was bitten by the Air Racing bug. Lyle Shelton, owner of Race 77 Rare Bear, recognized my passion for aviation and racing and asked him to join his crew. From there I would move onto the crew of the modified Griffon-powered P-51 Precious Metal as Assistant Crew Chief and would remain in that position through two owners until from 2005 - 2015. In his day to day life Michael is Director of Flight Operations for Airborne Broadcasting INC as well as Owner of Area 51 Aviation in Livermore.
