Melanie Black is a revered and community-focused meteorologist with more than a decade of experience in television news. Her career has taken her from coast to coast. She’s covered all facets of forecasting including wildfires and drought in California to flash flooding and extreme heat in Arizona and sub-zero wind chills and snowstorms in the Northeast. Melanie’s background in journalism puts her a step above others with her storytelling skills. She’s able to combine her love of storytelling and her love of science to deliver easy to understand forecasts. Her goal is to deliver the forecast in a clear and concise way that helps you prepare your family for the day while also learning more about the science of weather. Her following continues to grow from market to market. Her daily “Out the Door Forecast,” posted on social media and YouTube, gives people a quick snippet of the weather for the day. It gets a lot of traction, and people have come to expect it for their forecasts. Melanie is proud of her involvement in the community. She visits schools and speaks to hundreds of kids about the weather. Teachers often remark about how engaging her presentation is for students. Students learn how fog is made using dry ice, act out a weather map skit and share their own forecasts in front of a green screen! It’s hands-on and unlike any other weather presentation. Melanie and her husband are proud parents of a nearly one-year-old daughter. They love to sail and hike as a family!
