Meghdoot Biswas

Meghdoot Biswas graduated in May 2025 with an MS in Optical Sciences from the James C. Wyant College of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona. He conducted research under the supervision of Dr. Daewook Kim in high precision optical metrology. His work focused on advanced measurement techniques, including interferometry and deflectometry, to achieve picometer level precision in optical surface characterization, with applications in astronomical instrumentation and space based optical systems.During his time at Arizona, Meghdoot was trained by Dr. José Sasian in reflective optics and telescope design, which strongly shaped his approach to optical system development. While his core expertise lies in reflective systems, his interests extend across optical design in reflective, refractive, diffractive, and meta optical systems, with a strong foundation in aberration theory.He is currently collaborating with IIT Kanpur on an active optics telescope project and maintains research collaborations internationally in the field of optical design.Some of his current research work includes:• SWIR high resolution lens systems for drone and defense applications• Ultra fast wide angle reflective telescope systems• Applications of artificial intelligence in optical designMeghdoot is open to research collaborations and innovative optical design projects.
