Experience

Graduate Research Assistant
Baltimore, Maryland, United States
Currently I assist on studying the extracellular matrix effects on OPC dynamics for neurodegenerative therapies. I managed transgenic mouse breeding and genotyping, achieving 100% strain success and deposition at The Jackson Laboratory. I perform in vivo two-photon confocal techniques, perform immunohistochemistry on transgenic mice brains and ABR screenings with 95% accuracy to evaluate cell progression and cochlear activity. Check out some of my IHC data for a peer-reviewed paper.

Collaborated with graduate students to isolate and characterize bacterial populations in mangrove rhizhosphere for hydrocarbon utilizing potential using antibiotic susceptibility test and DNA isolation and purification for sequencing. First-line analysis showed bacterial populations to likely be Actinomycetes.

• Performed Isolation and Identification of Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria from chicken fecal samples available from local farms using agar well diffusion method and presumptive tests. • Created an extensive protocol for the same using techniques and concepts learnt earlier. • Established the results that the microbes isolated from the chicken fecal samples were all susceptible to the two antibiotics tested namely, Amoxicillin and Ciprofloxacin, by varying the concentrations of the antibiotics and performing secondary agar diffusion test to confirm the results obtained. • The only colony of bacteria partially susceptible to Amoxicillin at 40-60µl was identified using Gram’s staining as a gram +ve cocci, therefore concluding that the identified microbe is a cocci such as Enterococci, Staphylococci, etc.
