Developed the company from a potential idea to an online/app based business with a consistent client base. Primarily involved with building the app through PHP and SQL as well as creating a website landing page with HTML and CSS.

Based in Nairobi with the venture capital firm for four weeks working under CEO Richard Bell. The internship covered financial accounting statements, basic financial modelling techniques and market trends and indicators in the TMT sector. I was given an introduction to their projects including a new data centre that is currently under construction in Mombassa. This allowed me to then continue with my own research to fulfil the tasks I was required to complete. In the final week I delivered an investment memo as a presentation to the team and Richard Bell. They played the role of investors considering the project and questioned my thoughts and advice.

Working with the Edinburgh team, I was tasked with compiling country reports that highlighted changes in economic and political activity in the region to aid in investment decisions. I also worked with financial models to assess the investment return of target companies and provide recommendations on their attractiveness. I sat in on daily investment meetings where issues of concern were raised and discussed both internally and with their overseas offices.

I shadowed one of the principle partners and owners at West Coast Capital attending meetings throughout Scotland and Luxembourg with clients and investee companies. I saw a variety of projects at different stages, from raising funds to exiting. I was also invited to Sir Tom Hunter's philanthropy event where he endorsed young entrepreneur startup ideas.

Based in M&A helping the first years to contact clients and provide relevant daily economic summaries. I also spent time with distressed debt where I provided junior support researching material for European investment opportunities. I observed traders on the trading floor making investments for Deutsche Bank clients and learned the principles behind the market.
