The purpose of this role: To substantially increase participation levels and build cricketing skills across all forms of the game state-wide. As a result of the restructure of Queensland Cricket, I was appointed to the role of State Development Manager to lead the field team of 24 staff across the state. I was responsible for recruiting the new state field force teams in Game and Market development under their new department structure. In conjunction with the HR Manager I compiled job descriptions for these new roles, and implemented the new HR staff performance management system. I participated in rebuilding Queensland Cricket’s reputation as an organisation with volunteers and key stakeholders, driving an organisation-wide cultural change. For state championship carnivals, I played a leading role in directing the steering committee. I held overall responsibility for cricket development in the state of Queensland, gaining 6 direct reports across the state. As required by Queensland Cricket’s new governance structure I built relationships and credibility with key stakeholders, liaised and engaged with local council and state members, and the board of directors. Additionally, I was responsible for the development of talent for Queensland Cricket, from the promotion of school programs through to the start of the talent pathway.

I took upon the role of Acting General Manager for Game and Market Development for Queensland Cricket. I successfully compiled and presented the funding proposal for the Queensland sport and recreation industry development program resulting in $700,000 over 3 years (2014 – 2016). Within the Game and Market Development team I provided strong leadership to the staff and built a culture of success after significant structural changes to the department. In conjunction with the Cricket Australia team I completed a comprehensive business case for G&MD funding for the 2013/14 season, receiving $4.05 million over 3 years for the department. I formed a strong relationship with the Cricket Australia Management team which I used to leverage the resources available to assist in delivering on our objectives.

As the State Field Force Manager and Senior Cricket Manager for Queensland Cricket I successfully managed Queensland’s largest participation region (Brisbane North) and exceeded the agreed goals for the region. Additionally, I developed and facilitated the first teacher personal development forum at Queensland Cricket. As a result of my successful management, the State Primary School T20 cup was delivered on budget. For every season that I held this role I exceeded regional targets for coach education. For the 2013/14 season specifically, I held a leading role in the change in direction, roles, and KPIs for regional cricket managers. In the Brisbane North region under my management I build relationships and credibility with key influential stakeholders. Finally, I was appointed the Assistant Coach for the Queensland Fire and Head Coach for the QAS women’s’ team for the 2010/11 season.

When the business started to expand nationally, I was identified to run new store implementations. Amart acquired the Rowe and Jarman businesses, and I was subsequently appointed to be a key part of ‘Project One’, which involved transitioning Rowe and Jarman to the Amart business systems. Reporting to the General Manager, national and state sales managers, ‘Project One’ was delivered on time and on budget. For the Kawana Store, I lead sales awards. Furthermore, I successfully set up 8 new stores across the nation in accordance with time and budget requirements. I developed and managed relationships with contractors, landlords, and centre management to ensure opening dates were met. To achieve sales targets, I managed store advertising, marketing and promotions, managed relationships with suppliers at store level, and played a significant role in the training of new staff and upskilling of existing team members. Finally, I planned and implemented floor plans for new stores, and refits of existing stores.
