Newly created role to bring financial and resources oversight to the YMCAs’ international aid and development charity.

Assisting companies seeking capital, preparing business plans and submissions to banks and other fund providers. During this period I have worked extensively with a new Company bringing a new concept of lunchtime food to go to the market which has involving preparation of business plans, raising capital, establishing the operational proceedures of the Company. Active in support of companies developing their business or those in transition, consulting on improving administration efficiencies

The Global Fund has revised its grant architecture through the recent launch of the New Funding Model, covering grants to fight AIDS, Tuberculous and Malaria. Working with the Global Fund Financial Development Team I am establishing an in country shared service model within the Ministries of Health and Finance which will support and service Donors, Principle Recipients and EcoBank. The Global Fund transformation involves “sustainable financial management” at the country level for grant implementers using a simplified and integrated approach. This fits and aligns well with the objective within MoH to enhance Financial Management for Global Fund and other donor funded programs for the Health Sector.

I undertook a due diligence assessment on behalf of institutional donors on 100 organisation around the World who receive grants from IPPF, including about 25 from French speaking countries.

I project managed and was subject matter expert for a comprehensive review of the controls and financial performance surrounding the charity's International development work. I conducted a review of the previous practices and procedures, recommended changes and worked with the finance team to implement an improved reporting and control environment. Key drivers have been FRS 5, Charity SORPs, control of funds sent overseas, donor reporting, management and statutory reporting.

Appointed to the position of Director and General Manager with responsibility for expanding the company’s operations into a third party administration (outsourcing) business based on the company’s software platform. Established a subsidiary of the company in the Isle of Man, under the supervision of the local Insurance and Pensions Authority. Recruited senior management and managed the day-to-day operations of the company. Took responsibility for satisfying all regulatory requirements, marketing and client negotiations leading to contract. Worked in the Isle of Man for over a year overseeing the migration of clients’ business to the LIFEfit insurance management software, in conjunction with the migration of accounting records to Sun Accounts, and the installation of new asset management software .

Involved in identifying business partners and researching the economics and legislation of developing markets, leading to negotiation and implementation of strategic joint venture investments. Seconded to an associate company, National Life of Oman, during 2001 and 2002, undertaking the role of General Manager, during which time established a bank assurance network in conjunction with Bank Muscat. Involved in the establishment from start-up of a joint venture Life and Pensions operation in Turkey, responsible for all aspects of the creation of the operation from initial business plans, recruitment, system sourcing and marketing and distribution initiatives

I supported the work of Y Care Int. programmes staff in the effective management of the finances of YCI's international programmes. Ensuring control of funds, accurate reporting of financial aspect of the programmes and building financial management capacity within YCI's local partners. Assisted with the migration of the general ledger accounting package from Great Plains to QuickBooks and year end close.

* Established this French based company to undertake independent consultancy assignments in the UK and Europe * Undertook feasibility study for Belgium company seeking to expand into French and German markets via an IFA network. * Worked in association with Deloitte to provide third party administration services for small to medium sized insurance companies in Luxembourg.

Responsible for all aspects of the governance and financial control and reporting environment.
