Lydia Beaudette

In the role of Regional Team Lead, I provide regional support to the clinical research programs at LMC Barrie and LMC Markham, in addition to my work as a Clinical Research Coordinator. My responsibilities as a Regional Team Lead include quality control, mentoring existing Clinical Research Coordinators, supporting onboarding/off-boarding and training of new research staff, managing research staff development, acting as a liason for study sponsors and Clinical Research Organizations, supporting enrollment initiatives by leading bi-weekly research meetings, monitoring work productivity and assessing for ways to improve efficiencies and processes.

In this position, I work with a team to conduct Phase III and IV clinical research studies in the field of endocrinology. Our scope of clinical research includes both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, cardiovascular, nephrology, cholesterol lowering, and weight loss. Many of the studies I work on integrate cutting edge technologies, such as continuous glucose monitoring, activity tracking, and e-diaries. My duties encompass all aspects of patient care, including reviewing medical history/medications, obtaining vital signs, patient lifestyle education and data entry. I have a strong working knowledge of GCP guidelines, as well as the regulatory aspect of clinical research, and maintain the investigator site file for multiple studies.

I conduct research in the field of spine and muscle biomechanics, take courses in biomechanics and statistics, and act as a teaching assistant in human anatomy and occupational biomechanics undergraduate courses.

Fall 2012 - Teaching assistant for third year human anatomy dissection course, tasks involved running laboratories, grading, and reviewing material to students in both one-on-one and larger group scenarios. Winter 2013 & 2014 - Teaching assistant for fourth year occupational biomechanics and ergonomics course, tasks involved coordinating laboratories, grading lab reports and exams, conducting office hours, and advising students on major projects. Fall 2013 - Teaching assistant for fourth year Clinical Biomechanics course; tasks involved co-ordianting laboratories, grading lab reports, exams and presentations, conducting office hours, and advising students on major projects.

I conducted three separate research projects in biomechanics, in the areas of gait and dual tasking, muscle activation, and low back pain patients' skin sensitivity.

NSERC Canada Graduate Scholarship - Master's level (2012-2013), competitive National-level scholarship, awarded based on academic excellence, research potential, and community involvement. Ontario Graduate Scholarship (2012-2013 - offered but declined to accept the NSERC scholarship, 2013-2014 - awarded). Competitive provincial-level scholarship, awarded based on academic excellence and research potential.

Awarded the President's Scholarship (2008-2012), the most prestigious entrance scholarship at the University of Guelph, merited based on academic excellence, leadership contributions, and community involvement. Renewed this award for all four years of study by maintaining academic and extra-curricular excellence throughout my undergraduate degree. Awarded the Miller Thompson award for having the highest entering academic average into the University of Guelph in any degree program (2008)
