Continuing as the leader of the Future Computing Group at the Center for Ubiquitous Computing, University of Oulu, I focus on distributed intelligence, generative AI, and continuum-edge computing.

I lead the Future Computing Group, a research group at the Center for Ubiquitous Computing, at the University of Oulu, Finland. Our group of ca. 20 people focuses on edge intelligence in, e.g., smart cities, smart industry, smart transportation, infosec and defence sectors. My responsibilities: • Together with the team, we have developed methods for integrated edge computing and AI towards autonomous computing and communication systems. I'm currently supervising and co-supervising three doctoral theses. • I initiate and lead the group's strategy, mission and research roadmap work. • I'm responsible for the group's financial planning, funding and execution of projects, with oversight for group's members' own projects. Group's annual personnel salary expenditure approx. 1,5 million euros is covered by project funding and research indicator funding. • Our group is responsible for several courses in the CS curriculum. I have personally been the responsible teacher for several courses, now the Internet of Things course. Further, I oversee the group's other teachers' courses and TAs. • I'm responsible for group's personnel planning and recruitment, with line management duties for all our researchers (with titles: professor, senior research fellow, postdoc, doctoral researcher, research assistant, project engineer, project researcher, teaching assistant).

I worked as the vice director of the iEDGE research group (https://www.oulu.fi/en/research-groups/interactive-edge) at the Center for Ubiquitous Computing as a post-doctoral researcher, focusing on edge AI / edge intelligence.

The mission of the Center for Ubiquitous Computing (http://ubicomp.oulu.fi) is to conduct research on the next generation of interactive technologies. Our work spans the development of techniques for modelling human behaviour, augmenting physical spaces, and systems engineering to enable ubiquitous applications and services. I'm working at the center as a doctoral researcher, writing my doctoral thesis on the topic of distributed AI methods in the context of Edge Computing.

Analytics+ (http://www.analytics.plus/) is a business and research alliance of data analytics, connecting Finnish private sector analytics companies as well as all data scientists and analysts in academia. The alliance taps into the lead flow generated by the Hilla project (http://www.hilla.center/) as well as various other sources, evaluating analytics cases and selecting an optimal delivery team from among its partners and experts. I worked as the head of Analytics+, starting up and expanding the network, building up and managing the working processes, evaluating the business cases as well as facilitating co-operation models in the data analytics customer projects.

I coordinate the research and activities within the strategic research area for distributed intelligence (SRA3) of the 6G Flagship research program.

Sovelto is the leading software and IT systems training house in Finland. I'm a freelance trainer at Sovelto, teaching courses related to data science.

I visited prof. Luca Benini's Digital Circuits and Systems group at the Integrated Systems Laboratory, ETH Zürich. The focus of the Digital Circuits and Systems group is energy efficiency for digital circuits over a very wide operating range, starting from small devices with a power budget of less than a mW that will drive Internet of Things (IoT) applications, all the way to High Performance Computing (HPC) systems such as data centers that consume power in the MWs.

The Distributed Systems Group (DSG) of the Institute of Information Systems Engineering at the TU Wien, led by prof. Schahram Dustdar, conducts research and teaching in distributed computing and systems, with particular emphasis on Iot and Smart Cities, the computing continuum spanning mist, edge, fog and cloud, as well as elastic systems and elastic computing. An 8 month term as faculty "Universitätassistent" (roughly corresponding a no-tenure-track Assistant Professor), I'm covering for a leave of absence. My particular topic of interest during this term is AI-based orchestration of the computing continuum.

TaviQ is a financial technology (FinTech) company offering Robo-Advice technologies, Robo-technology for trading idea generation, client risk-analysis methods, back-end solutions for digital investment advisors, and tailored consulting and IT-development projects. My role as a board member was to coach the management team in all things strategic and technical.

Syslore is a technology start-up focusing on AI solutions for postal address matching. This position involved directing Syslore's products strategy as well as international technical sales.

FCS Parther (now: Sovelto) is the leading software and IT systems training house in Finland. My work entailed software development training and IT consultancy.

I was part of a team developing an information security application. The project spinned off as a startup which was acquired by an infosec house.

Thesis topic: Spatial Dependency in Edge-native Artificial Intelligence.

Major: Statistics. Minor: Mathematics. Thesis topic was Road Friction Prediction. I built statistical learning models, based on mixed effects models and Gaussian Markov random fields, for predicting the tyre--road friction coefficient in an urban, arctic environment.
