In a private school environment taught secondary English language learning and History, in a bicultural stream, utilizing integrative technology (LMS- Lotus Notes, Blackboard). Collaborated with Ph.D candidates from the University of Maastricht (The Netherlands) on the creation and implementation of problem-based learning (PBL) in compulsory curricula. With a colleague, wrote and developed English learning-based curriculum projects for use at the high school and university levels.

Teaching throughout the TDSB in a variety of Special Education Roles including HSP and Section 23 programs. Collaborate with staff outside agencies to best support students with complex social and academic needs. Special area of interest in teaching reading through Structured Literacy/ the Orton Gillingham approach.

Collaborated with school staff and community members in creating an engaging and culturally relevant learning environment in a First Nations environment. Reduced suspension and expulsion rates by over 50% and helped increase the graduation rate by over 30%. Increased parental and Band Council support and involvement in the school, creating an ‘Elders Room’, and hosting community educational nights (Math Bingo, Open Library Night). Fostered student engagement through creative implementation of arts and culture; organizing visiting programs such as the Manitoba Theatre for Young People and The Planetarium

Inside sales representative supporting external sales consultants in new content materials to First Nations communities in central and western Canada.

Collaborated with editorial staff in providing curriculum content/activities for contracts with SMARTboard as well as internal projects.

Current president of Decoding Dyslexia Ontario- a grassroots organization formed by parents to advocate and raise awareness for those with dyslexia. Meet with various stakeholders to raise education & awareness while advocating for rights of dyslexic students in schools.
