As an economist and certified risk professional, I have spent the last two decades working at the intersection of financial services, regulatory affairs, and public policy - across Europe and North America. I currently lead Global Strategic Risk Management for Great-West Lifeco / Canada Life, where I spend my day partnering with management and risk functions across all markets to ensure effective challenge and oversight of risks to business strategy and strategic execution. Before joining Great-West Lifeco / Canada Life, I led the risk management function of one of the largest Worker Comp insurance organizations in North America - accountable for Enterprise Risk, Operational Risk, Corporate Insurance and Business Continuity. Prior to that, I worked as registered lobbyist for the Canadian P&C (re)insurance industry, and served as economic and policy advisor to the UK Government and Ontario’s Treasury Board. I hold an undergraduate degree in economics and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Passionate about economics, insurance and risk management, I have written several articles on the subject, spoke at a number of industry forums, and teach risk management at York University in Toronto.
