Main function: Certification, homologation and validation of active ingredients and excipients suppliers in order to decrease the number of assays that need to be performed when receiving these materials for manufacturing.

Preformulation studies, manufacturing of different dosage forms (solid, semisolid, sterile, liquid, syrups, creams), quality control (in-process and finished product), quality assessment (GMPs, PNTs, validation) and biotechnology.

Provide the medication and materials needed for different Hospital Services (e.g. Surgery and Trauma Divisions), keeping up to date with new methodologies, new drugs and their uses, ensuring medicines are stored appropriately and securely.

Dispensing prescribed hospital medication (antiretrovirals, hormones, methadone, stupefacients), compounding sterile products for patients (parenteral nutrition, iv antibiotics, chemotherapy), assessing and monitoring patterns of drug usage and involvement in decision-making on appropriate treatments.
