About
I have a wide range of experience working with various client groups in our communities. I have run support groups for women with mental health issues, and even developed my own ten week programme to promote positivity and mental wellbeing. I have experience in teaching foundation courses in Indian head massage and reflexology. I began my career working with children and families for the local authority, and I have also worked with children in the classroom setting. Additiinally I was a carer for many years for my son who had a chronic health condition. My passion though is working with adults, particularly vulnerable adults. I currently work in this sector with both young adults and elderly adults. Part of my job role is to encourage social interaction to prevent isolation and enable people to enjoy their lives to their full potential.

My current role includes developing a stimulating activity programme which enhances the quality of life for our service users, I achieve this by firstly identifying an idividuals social needs, and then acting upon them. I prepare an provide various group activities such as quizzes, parties, craft sessions, relaxation classes, afternoon teas to name a few. I also book entertainers, organise day trips, outings, transport and fundraising events. Not all service users like to participate in groups, and for these i provide one to one sessions. As the home 'Dignity Champion' I also ensure dignity is maintained within the home. I have achieved very good relations with service users, their families and our staff team, and also developed links with outside agencies and the local community.

I was very active in setting up a support group in the community, as I saw there was a considerable need for this type of facility. I facilitated groups for women with varying degrees of mental health issues. The groups aim was to encourage recovery and wellbeing. This was encouraged by giving members a space to talk, and share ideas to resolve problems. I also devised various activities, and covered topics to promote positivity and self care. I have also researched and regularly delivered a ten weeks course called ' Change Your Life' which includes topics on changing thought patterns, goal setting, learning to love yourself, mindfulness, practising gratitude etc. i have written feedback on this course which is very positive. i received a 'Community Hero Award in 2009 for my commitment and achievements in this area.
