Joyce (Yi Tzu) Chiu
Project Developer @ National Taiwan University
About
I’m a social designer, graduated with a degree in Foreign Languages and started my journey in anthropology (thick data, fieldwork, ethnographic research methods) and design thinking through local revitalization initiatives during university. I have lived and worked in Taipei, Kaohsiung, New York, Beijing, and Shanghai. My goal is to become a professional and innovative social system/service designer. In the past 6 years, I specialize in solving interdisciplinary challenges using methodologies from humanities, social sciences and science. By analyzing issues from a systemic perspective, I identify potential business/profit/change opportunities and integrate innovation directly into problem-solving processes. I excel at navigating diverse work environments, engaging in field research, and empathizing with different thought processes and methodologies. I believe meaningful social change stems from grounded behavioral insights and redesigning interactions between human-nature-social dynamics. My project experience spans multiple sectors: (1) In the corporate world, I have worked on cars, beer brands, retail, skincare, sports products, membership systems, cloud-based metaverse workspaces, and UX design for banking interfaces. (2) In the public sector, I have contributed to social procurement policy design, impact investment consulting, accessibility reform in art districts, regional circular economy projects, and green-engineering-focused educational material development.
