John I. Pray, Jr., a retired U.S. Air Force Brigadier General, is an accomplished executive with over three decades of experience across the military, Federal government, non-profit, and private sectors. As the CEO of Operation Homefront from 2015-2024, John transformed the organization into a nationally recognized non-profit dedicated to supporting tens of thousands of military families each year. During his tenure, he reshaped the board, fostered strong relationships with corporate/foundation/individual donors, strengthened the organization’s financial position, including a 101% increase in annual cash revenue, a nearly 8-fold increase in cash reserve from $2M to $15.8M and the launching of an ambitious $100M comprehensive campaign, on track to generate $140M. Immediately prior, John was the Executive Vice President of Operations, Programs & Entertainment at the United Services Organization (USO), where he managed a $300 million global operation and was instrumental in the organization’s strategic planning, digital transformation, and marketing initiatives. John’s distinguished career includes serving as the Executive Secretary of the National Security Council (NSC) at the White House where he kept an ambitious foreign policy agenda on track in a dynamic global security environment and led the Council’s standard-setting transition from the Bush to the Obama Administration. A 27 year veteran, John’s key command assignments include the 89th Airlift Wing at Andrews AFB, where he led the Air Force’s most visible flying unit, including Air Force One and the 436th Airlift Wing at Dover AFB, where he commanded the Air Force’s largest C-5 flying wing and oversaw the transition of the Charles C. Carson Center for Mortuary Affairs from a Vietnam-era structure to a state of the art facility. In the corporate sector, John served as a member of Boeing’s Win-Strategy Steering Committee, providing strategic guidance for their campaigns to secure contracts for the development of the new "Air Force One" and "Marine One" executive transportation aircraft. John holds a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from the US Air Force Academy, and advanced degrees in Strategic Studies from the Air War College, Airpower Art and Science from the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies, and Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and has completed executive education programs at Columbia Business School, the Wharton School and Harvard Business School.
