Jason S.

Senior Component Engineer @ Moog Space and Defense Group

About

I am a component/radiation engineer at Moog Space and Defense. I work with customers to assure that spacecraft components meet the test flow requirements for their respective missions. I also analyze radiation data and perform radiation analysis for our products to assure that they will be resilient against both total dose and single event radiation effects. I have extensive research experience as a physicist. I double-majored in Physics and Mathematics at Arizona State University, where I was involved in particle physics research. In mathematics I specialized in algebra, cryptography, probability, and number theory. I earned a PhD from Cornell University, where I worked in observational cosmology. I worked on the Atacama Cosmology Telescope, the Simons Observatory, CMB S4, and CCAT. I worked extensively on superconducting detector and multiplexer technology, as well as the telescope observing strategies. I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where I worked in the Quantum Sensors Group at NIST. I helped develop and use superconducting sensors to measure ionizing background radiation with the intent to better understand qubit decoherence for quantum computing applications. I am skilled at data analysis, programming and computing, and scientific writing and presentation. I also have extensive hands-on experience in laboratories, clean rooms, and machine shops.
