External consultant hired in to bring new energy to a company-core-project working on bonding methods for active alignment of lens to image sensor. Acted as a coordinator and facilitator communicating with several departments and teams plus external suppliers. Lock Focus is a designer and manufacturer of innovative locking products that are used in wooden and metal furniture, caravan and recreational vehicles, garages and sheds, doors and windows as well as many other tailored products for unique applications. SWS Australia is part of the global Sumitomo Corporation. They specialise in automotive electronics and wiring harnesses with in house UI design, software, hardware and mechanical engineering, and production. • Collaborated with various department teams to develop two User Interfaces for vehicle interior command centres. The entire design process was utilised for this development including team brainstorming sessions, quick sketch studies (both manually and digitally), paper prototyping, digital renders and graphics preparation (using Photoshop and Illustrator), concept presentations and Flash animations • Researched, planned and designed the UI’s around established ergonomic and usability principles in relation to: reach zones, button sizes, response/lag time, visual hierarchy and user input feedback • Envisioned and specified behaviour for the UI including: button behaviour/states, screen transitions, animation sequences, pop-up strategy and timers • Promoted usability and design to educate the client and other internal departments of its value • Liaised with software engineers to ensure the specified behaviour and graphics were being implemented correctly on the User Interface • Worked with mechanical engineers to determine tolerance boundaries for hard button graphics • Produced a range of skins/themes for the displays while working within strict software implementation requirements • Worked with and presented to senior staff at both SWS Australia and Ford Motor Company Australia

Index Industrial Design is a full service product design and development firm. They provide design services from concepts through to engineering and manufacture of finished product. • Developed polished concept presentations for clients using sketches, diagrams, CAD drawings and renders, story boards and prototype photographs – composed in Corel Draw • Actively involved in full design process from initial ideation to product manufacture including: sketching, prototype, proof of concept and presentation model fabrication (workshop, power tools and machine operations including end mills and lathes), CAD modeling, CAD drafting, drawing revisions and quotation requests • Worked with the design principal and senior industrial designer on a multitude of projects involving: mechanical design, cast component design, sheet metal design – laser cut and bent components, weld assemblies and general fabrication, extrusion design, electrical component layout, prototype testing and developing product details • Conducted user research and a task analysis for a small hand held product • Logo and graphic label development • Checked all products assembled in house for Quality Assurance - checking for paint defects, metal burrs, part misalignments and general finish quality. Also assisted in a ‘dry fit’ exercise for a large LCD monitor enclosure prototype. This was completed in a metal fabrication workshop to ensure all tolerances were correct and parts fitted before final painting commenced • Assembled products, packaged and created pallets ready for shipping
