Responsible for a variety of duties related to job production, administrative compliance and quality assurance. Required to liaise with company personnel including estimators, project managers, and administrative/accounting staff. Expected to coordinate vendors/subtrades and work with clients to ensure the timely completion of a high quality and profitable construction project, while maintaining site health and safety, and keeping detailed records.

Responsible for monitoring the progress of construction projects and ensuring work is completed to schedule, while maintaining compliance with construction safety regulations. Supervising all workers and subcontractors on site, orientating construction workers on site safety practices and company rules/policies, and evaluating employee performance.

Owner's representative on medium to large scale commercial and residential development projects. Managed contract administration for consultants and construction managers on behalf of the owner. Consulted owner on budget and schedule, and performed occasional on-site quality assurance/control as clerk of works.

Working supervisor role, involving site coordination as well as skilled labour. I was assigned to several medium-sized ICI projects during my time in this position.

While abroad in Shanghai, I assisted with teaching Chinese students about Canadian construction methods and principals. Coordinated with subtrades, consultants, and owners to gather closeout documentation and assemble turnover packages for clients/end-users.

The Honours Bachelor of Technology (Construction Management) program provides a curriculum that combines theory, applied research, field study and hands-on practical education. Recognizing that today’s successful construction manager must possess both technical and managerial skills, the curriculum combines studies in construction engineering and technology with studies in business and management methods as applied to construction.
