Wellbeing Lead for Technology & Transformation UK @ Deloitte

About

I lead Wellbeing for Technology and Transformation at Deloitte in the UK. My role is to support the integration of proactive wellbeing into business practices and our culture, promoting sustainable, high performance. I’m deeply passionate about people thriving at work and outside of it. I empower people and teams to build resilience. I link Wellbeing to important aspects of business performance such as managing risk, creating value, ensuring quality and delivery excellence. I help to facilitate solution-focused, open team discussions and enable bridging across the 4 generations to get the best results and find the real magic in teamwork. I’m all about building authentic connection and raising consciousness about human behaviour - the good, the bad and the ugly!My strengths are deep empathy combined with analytical, creative & critical thinking. I intuitively recognise patterns and am often one step ahead of the 'zeitgeist' when it comes to human and organisational behaviour and wider trends. I build trusted client & customer relationships rapidly. I facilitate those trickier conversations within teams to increase team resilience, agility and ultimately effectiveness. I've created robust, holistic models for wellbeing by design, taking it away from the 'soft & fluffy' into sustainable, high performing individual and team dynamics.I openly share my own journey of moving from burnout to resilience. Previously working in technology consulting for six years, in November 2021, I experienced a deterioration in my scoliosis that I have been managing (and suppressing) since age 11. My whole body shut down one day from cognitive overload related to my physical pain (and some interlinked mental health challenges) in one big feedback loop. I had to take time out of work for four months to rebuild strength and unpack how I had not been operating at a sustainable pace. This required unravelling what I’d been running from and masking for a long time, entangled with deeper fears of the future, some key workplace factors and unhealthy ways of coping with stress. On my return, I realised that I wanted to help people increase self-awareness and self-determination. On the other side of the coin, I support teams and leaders (including some clients) to build high-performance environments with preventative wellbeing as a key ingredient, rather than an afterthought. I'm a pioneer/driver, and my Myers-Briggs is INTJ. I have a degree in philosophy, and alongside a rather complex life growing up, that’s what kick-started my interest in human behaviour.

2023-4 - Present · 3 yrs 6 mos

My work involves several key areas: - Data-led Strategy: Using data and listening to identify "hot spots" in Technology & Transformation (T&T) and building an approach for sustainable performance on projects. I have developed a sustainable performance toolkit for project leaders to build high performing, resilient teams which don't burnout. - Wellbeing as a Skill: Positioning wellbeing as a necessary skill, ensuring our model of wellbeing pulls in the same direction as individual and commercial performance. I am helping to incorporate it into objective setting and performance management - Wellbeing by Design: Advocating for wellbeing to be an integral outcome of working practices, including developing a "Wellbeing-by-design operating model" and tools for project delivery. - Flourish Wellbeing & Inclusion Events Programme: Co-leading T&T wide events for Flourish, which covers themes like women's health, harnessing stress, digital habits and radical candour for teams. - Coaching & Mentoring: Supporting individuals (mainly women) to build skills in boundary setting, energy management and confidence. I also coach teams on building high-performing habits

XMCS is a channel through which organisations access the vast talents of the country's independent management consultants, interims and specialised niche consulting firms. My role in this management consultancy progressed from initially (during the internships below) supporting the practice manager in the day-to-day running of the business to working with the Directors and Partners on major bids (including producing high-quality collateral and reviewing, drafting and aligning contracts) to working on major client projects such as the development of strategy for a large law firm, the design of a new pan-government shared service and the planning of major programmes. I also contributed ideas in operational and strategic meetings on the positioning and branding of the company.
