I trained with Al Gore as a Climate Reality Leader in October 2017 and have presented on the subject of the climate crisis to approximately 20 different community groups, residents associations, parish and local councils calling for better understanding of the science of what is happening and inspiring action to address the climate emergency.

• Worked with my team in B2B Energy Services to develop a vision, mission and series of strategic objectives and used this to review what activities should be in/out of scope, highlight priorities and identify efficiencies which I then implemented. • Supported the development of the team including recruiting additional expertise to fill critical gaps • Drove forward activity with the R&D team to develop a process for identifying and prioritising technology trials to address business priorities of the Energy Services team. • Worked with third party technology providers to identify suitable business opportunities with key customers. • Communicated with senior stakeholders across Customers the value of the work being done in Energy Services product and proposition development.

• Developed EDF Energy’s policy on how to implement Electricity Market Reform in the business and manage the increased costs with domestic and business customers. • Managed and motivated a virtual team of cross-business experts facing conflicting demands to achieve challenging deadlines. • Gained detailed knowledge of Electricity Market Reform legislation, how it is designed to meet government targets and what is achievable in current UK energy market structures.

• Gained extensive experience of implementing energy efficiency strategies and low carbon technologies across a range of industries. • Developed the Carbon Trust’s position on Carbon Capture and Storage and engaged with decision makers in government, industry and academia to communicate and persuade others. This included successfully persuading the government to change its Carbon Capture and Storage fund to support a broader range of capture technologies and persuading the Energy Technologies Institute to similarly broaden the scope of its objectives in this area. • Worked with industry to plan, design and launch the Industrial Energy Efficiency Accelerator and then programme managed the research and development necessary to deliver step-change reductions in energy use in a number of industrial processes. • Produced a detailed investment paper which I successfully presented to the Carbon Trust investment committee and board in 2009, persuading them to grant £15m to work with 20 industry sectors through the IEEA over 4 years. • Built and managed a large team of both internal and external staff, setting up a framework of specialist consultants and putting in place innovative contracts to ensure that the programme was delivered to time, budget and quality. • Became a regular speaker at energy-efficiency and industry specific conferences. • Significant contributor to the writing of the widely cited publication on small-scale wind turbines and available energy resource. This publication included both an economic and carbon assessment of available wind resource and the implications for policy makers and consumers. • Engaged industry stakeholders to build awareness of the Carbon Trust’s research and findings on small-scale wind energy, including presenting at a Parliamentary PRASEG event, and participating in meetings of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.

• Managed several international strategic projects whilst based in the U.S. • Led project based teams including representatives from operations, engineering, sales, marketing, supply and finance. • Negotiated new operational structures to maximise value to Shell. • Developed financial business cases, prepared investment papers and successfully sought approval from senior stakeholders.

• Provided support and advice to airport fuelling operations: interpreting health, safety and environmental legislation and company guidelines to implement pragmatic operating solutions. • Inspired fundamental change in reporting of near misses through my engagement with the team of airport managers. • Auditor, trainer, accident investigator and authorised safety inspector. • Took the initiative to develop and roll out an innovative training programme for third party fuelling operators, overcoming years of non-compliance and improving long-term relationships.

• Led the development of a Competency Framework to support Continuous Professional Development for all Operations & Technical staff in Aviation (approximately 500 people). • Led the global project implementation of the framework, working in particular with colleagues in Europe and Africa. • Developed processes for reporting operational data from airports across the world, allowing efficient benchmarking and identification of issues.
