George D Thomas

Strategist & Experienced Executive - Innovation, Technology & Industry for Responsible Economic Development. George is co-founder and serves as President & CEO of Connected DMV, an initiatives-based non-profit based in Greater Washington. Connected DMV is focused on building new industry clusters in the national interest. George leads the Regional Economic Development Strategy (REDS) initiative for Greater Washington and serves as Executive Director of the Potomac Quantum Innovation Center (PQIC) and the Quantum World Congress (QWC). George also founded New Urban Informatics, a boutique business advisory firm, providing expertise to some of the most innovative companies and governments focused on analytics, Digital Infrastructure and Smart Cities. Among key clients, George served as Global Director, Smart Infrastructure, for Hatch Ltd. In this role, he led Hatch's efforts in helping clients maximize value across all infrastructure domains. Previously, George served as Partner at IBM and held senior positions with global firms Hatch, Metamor, and Mott MacDonald. In these roles, he led multi-million-dollar engagements covering complex programs in smart cities, technology commercialization, critical infrastructure, enterprise systems, supply chain reengineering, and process improvement. George is a mentor, board member and coach to several start-ups and innovative companies. George is a recognized industry expert at the intersection of emerging technology, economic development, and industry. He is a regular speaker at conferences and events such as the C40 Mayor’s Conferences, TEDx, the Deshpande Symposium, the World Bank, and the United Nations. George holds a master’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia.
