Gary is a people person who has been called by God to engage his church, and to help equip them for the work of ministry. Gary has been gifted as a visionary leader, teacher, and has a strong heart for discipleship. Gary sees the main focus of his ministry as written in 1 Timothy 4:12, "To equip the saints for the work of ministry." His hope is that in his ministry he might help others to grow in their understanding of the gospel of grace and what it means to live out the implications of the gospel of grace. When not engaged in pastoral responsibilities you can find Gary enjoying a good cup of coffee or enjoying a meal with friends. You might also find Gary enjoying baseball, which he has been a lifelong fan of. Gary, Whitney and their daughter Zoey call Wichita Kansas home and learning to love the Midwest each day. I currently serve as the Associate Pastor for student ministries at Heartland Community Church. My roles include the development and implementation for vision & discipleship ministries to students and families. In addition to the role of student ministry, I also help to vision cast, implement, and lead a community in Central Wichita whose aim is to develop leaders who engage, grow, and expand the reach of the gospel in every sphere of life. In 2012 I was invited to come on board to help re-create and redirect a youth ministry, which needed theological depth, and long-term vision. by God's grace I worked to see this come to fruition by centering all we did around the Gospel of Christ, Discipling students, and serving our community and world. Throughout my time at FUMC I was privileged to see 14 students come to saving faith in Christ and to walk with them in discipleship over the next few years.
