During my time at WASP, I designed bespoke high end controls and lighting to meet the varying demands of airlines for first and business class suites. • Designing keypads, touch screens and indicator panels • Injection mouldings, illumination, design for manufacture and assembly • Project managing and liaising with customers • Assisting less experienced designers • Developing from concept, through testing and into manufacture • Verifying and validating software for touchscreens • Working closely with electrical engineers to develop integrated products

I developed a new range of electro-mechanical actuated Chromatography columns to replace the existing hydraulic design. • Designing pressure vessels to PED or ASME code requirements • Working with a stress engineer to produce design calculations using MathCAD • Mentoring new design engineers on a common design approach • Produced hydraulic calculation template for sizing of dynamic cylinders • Created range of tolerance studies to ensure pressure sealing on new designs • Using materials to USP class VI & FDA requirements

I designed a new range of keypads, implemented across a variety of customer products. • Developing new products to meet the requirements of the market place • Designing switch mechanisms in an IP67 sealed housing • Instigating and specifying validation testing of prototypes and production parts • Working with tool designers in the UK and China • Designing injection moulded & die cast components • Instructing and overseeing PCB suppliers on new designs

Final year project: During the final year of the course a complete product was designed from inception through to a working prototype.
