Senior Manager, Interoperability Standards @ Canada Health Infoway

About

Healthcare has more data than almost any sector, but too much of it remains fragmented, underused, and disconnected from the decisions that matter. My work focuses on closing that gap.I am a digital health and clinical informatics leader with experience across national interoperability standards, provincial integration programs, clinical workflow transformation, EMR/EHR implementation, data governance, and healthcare innovation. I have led work that connects policy, standards, architecture, vendors, clinical operations, and implementation teams - turning complex health system priorities into practical digital capabilities. Most recently, I served as Product Owner for Canada’s national CA Core+ HL7 FHIR specification, helping shape the foundational interoperability layer for pan-Canadian health data exchange. That role required more than standards expertise. It required national roadmap ownership, jurisdictional alignment, stakeholder engagement, vendor collaboration, governance, and execution discipline.Earlier roles gave me direct exposure to the realities of implementation: provincial eReferral and eConsult integrations, Epic/Cerner/Meditech-connected workflows, primary care EMR integration, structured forms, consent-aware data flows, clinical systems delivery, super-user training, and change management across operational healthcare environments. That range is the value I bring.I understand how digital health strategy is shaped at the governance table, how it gets translated into architecture and standards, and where it succeeds or fails when it reaches real clinical workflows. I bring the technical fluency to understand the details, the clinical informatics grounding to know what matters, and the program leadership experience to move complex initiatives forward. As healthcare moves into AI-enabled care, automation, and data-driven operations, this full-stack perspective matters even more. Clinical AI will not scale on models alone. It will require trusted data, interoperable systems, governed workflows, consent-aware exchange, and implementation models that work inside real healthcare delivery.I am selectively exploring senior leadership opportunities in digital health, clinical informatics, interoperability, health data strategy, innovation and clinical AI.

At the pan-Canadian level, interoperability standards don't just get written, they get negotiated, aligned, and adopted across health systems that rarely agree on much. In a dual mandate as Senior Manager of Interoperability Standards and Product Owner for CA Core+, I held both the technical and strategic accountability for Canada's national specification. ▸ Defined and drove the CA Core+ roadmap across scope, working group engagement, community balloting cycles, and specification development: establishing CA Core+ as the anchor standard within Canada's national interoperability architecture across ballot cycles ▸ Co-led the development of a national specification inheritance methodology connecting CA Core+ to pan-Canadian use-case specifications (PS-CA, CA:HALO, eReC, CA:CSD) and provincial/territorial implementations: advancing a structured alignment framework from national core to jurisdictional layer ▸ Aligned CA Core+ with international FHIR standards including USCore, AUCore, and USCDI, ensuring Canada's specification reflected global best practices while addressing Canadian regulatory requirements ▸ Built and sustained a strategic collaboration with CIHI to formalize pan-Canadian interoperability standards and strengthen adoption pathways across health system stakeholders ▸ Guided a cross-functional team of FHIR SMEs through the full specification development and balloting lifecycle, managing domain analysis, backlog governance, and alignment decisions across competing organizational priorities ▸ Served as the CA Core+ lead for the national Projectathon vendor validation event, driving specification validation planning and providing real-time monitoring support during the event to ensure conformance testing aligned with CA Core+ implementation requirements ▸ Engaged with HL7 Canada and the international HL7 community to track emerging standards developments, and contributed to Firely's Simplifier platform roadmap based on Canadian requirements
