Organisation, lead, and facilitation of Design Thinking workshops

Participation in 10 innovation projects with companies in industries ranging from medical devices to transport and from sensors to packaging. Organisation, lead, and facilitation of Design Thinking workshops with customer representatives and QUO colleagues. Preparation of a comprehensive document about Additive Manufacturing Technologies and their business potential. Presentation and discussion of findings with customer representatives. Successful completion of a Materials Science intensive project about polymers at extreme conditions: e.g. cryogenic temperatures, ionizing radiation, high pressures. Use and training with material selection software CES Selector by Granta Design.

Tutor and assist an international and interdisciplinary group of 8-10 students. Promote the group process through targeted intervention; oversee time management; assist them so that they can build on each other’s skills and expertise; engage the team members in self-directed learning. Participate actively in the tutor training, the supervisory meetings and in the evaluation of the ETH Week.

Physical vapour deposition (PVD) and characterisation of the nanoscale behaviour of reactive metallic multilayers.

Leadership, politics, entrepreneurship, policy making. Teamwork, dealing with limited information, working under time pressure, cooperation. Expand the analytical mindset of the engineer to include high tolerance of ambiguity, inherent to human behavior and real world issues. Design-oriented approach. Not only analyze problems at the intersection of technology and society, but also design and present solutions.

Design Thinking, collaborative ideation, immediate validation, rapid prototyping and iterative testing. Design Thinking approach, observation and interaction with key stakeholders, in-depth understanding of what is truly important and emotionally meaningful to the people at the center of a problem.
