Ella Thomson

I’m Ella, a second-year Commerce student at Queen’s University with a passion for entrepreneurship, marketing, leadership, and impact. Since arriving at Queen’s, I’ve taken on roles that have shaped both my skills and how I approach challenges. As a Brand Coordinator for Queen’s Commerce Kids, I design promotional content and manage social media for fundraising initiatives. As an Events Coordinator for The Benji Impact, I help plan and deliver projects that raise awareness around food allergies and strengthen community connections. These roles have pushed me to balance competing priorities, adapt quickly, and build meaningful relationships. My entrepreneurial drive started in grade 12, when I launched Pompom.Lashes. What began as a small idea grew into a loyal client base, and running it gave me firsthand experience in operations, brand development, and social media marketing. Watching something I built from the ground up succeed was incredibly fulfilling. For lack of a better term, being an entrepreneur created an itch that nothing else could scratch. It combines everything I love: creativity, problem-solving, logistics, and connecting directly with people. I also discovered the power of impact through Relay for Life at A.B. Lucas Secondary School, where I helped coordinate an event that raised $158,000 in 2024 for cancer research. Seeing the tangible difference our work made showed me how much I value contributing to something larger than myself and shaped the way I think about leadership and community. Looking ahead, I’m excited to keep building on these experiences and pursue opportunities in marketing, entrepreneurship, and the beauty industry, with the long-term goal of creating ventures that blend creativity, innovation, and social impact.
