Elise Schicker

I currently work at Nilo Therapeutics, a biotech startup in Manhattan. Nilo's mission involves treating autoimmune and inflammatory diseases through neural circuits.I received my B.Sc in Biotechnology at Rutgers University- New Brunswick. I minored in biochemistry with a concentration in medical ethics and health policy. At Rutgers, I deepened my understanding and passion for neurobiology and molecular genetics. I worked as a research assistant in RWJMS's Neurosurgery Department where I was involved in various research initiatives exploring the relationship between adenosine, adenosine kinase, and epilepsy in mouse models. Responsibilities included drug discovery efforts, stereotactic surgery, inducing traumatic brain injuries and seizures, performing in-vivo methodologies, maintaining colonies of mice for experimentation purposes, and analyzing data outputs.
