I’m an articling student in Toronto working in union side labour law, with a strong focus on litigation and tribunal advocacy. I am seeking union-side roles following completion of my articles. Before law, I spent 8+ years in construction as an estimator and project coordinator, working on multi-residential, high-rise, and commercial work, and I also ran an estimating consulting practice for roofing, siding, and restoration contractors. That background sharpened my ability to work with complex records, tight deadlines, and high-stakes disputes, skills I now bring to legal drafting and advocacy. I earned my JD from Osgoode Hall Law School and previously studied architectural/building engineering and construction management (BCIT), self-employment (Langara College), and political science (Concordia University). During my time at the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic, I worked on the Criminalization of Women Project under the supervision of a lawyer. The criminalization of women project provides vital support to survivors of intimate partner violence who are facing criminal charges. Key Responsibilities and Achievements: - Collaborated with lawyers and advocates in the Criminalization of Women Project to provide comprehensive legal assistance to survivors of intimate partner violence who found themselves entangled in the criminal justice system. - Conducted in-depth legal research on the intersection of intimate partner violence and criminal law, exploring strategies to advocate for the rights and interests of survivors facing unjust criminalization. - Assisted survivors in navigating the complexities of the legal system, providing empathetic support, and empowering them to assert their rights and access necessary resources. - Participated in interdisciplinary discussions and training sessions to enhance understanding and approaches to addressing the unique needs of survivors facing criminalization. - Engaged in reflective discussions and participated in team meetings, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among peers and professionals.
