Zijin Mining is a mid-tier base metals company operating Bisha, a high-grade open pit zinc-copper mine. As HME & Site Maintenance Manager, I oversee a team of 68 expatriates and 162 national employees within the HME division. ◼️ Led safety transformation across people, processes and systems, achieving a 40% reduction in reportable incidents in the first year and 25% in the second, with zero LTI. ◼️ Mentored and upskilled numerous apprentice mechanics and auto electricians as part of a local apprenticeship scheme introduced to accelerate nationalisation plans. ◼️ Led investigation into DT52 dump truck fire, undertaking root cause analysis to determine causes and delivering robust recommendations to prevent recurrence. ◼️ Oversaw incident investigation related to copper rougher conditioning tank failure 10 days after installation successfully identifying root causes and introducing procedural amendments to prevent recurrence. ◼️ Drove operational excellence via improved assets utilisation, additional resources / labour, maintenance management and optimised, transparent processes / procedures and planning.

Endeavour Mining is mid-tier Canadian gold mining company exploring, developing and operating gold mining assets in Senegal and Burkina Faso. As Mobile Maintenance Manager, I supported building and development of Wahgnion Gold Mine, a greenfield site, and was responsible for managing a team of 9 expatriates and 105 national workshop staff. ◼️ Overcame numerous logistical and supply chain issues to establish fully operational mine in 8 months. ◼️ Supported implementation of PRONTO ERP system, delivering subject matter expertise for system optimisation for maintenance management processes and functionality. ◼️ Contributed to tank redesign from bulk oil storage tanks to mobile tanks to accommodate supply chain issues. ◼️ Instrumental in successfully halving the number of expats employed based on nationalisation and national competence levels.

Centamin Mining is a mid-tier, UK-based gold mining company exploring, developing and operating gold mining assets in Egypt and exploration sites across Africa. I was appointed Mobile Maintenance Superintendent, with oversight of a team of 13 expatriates and 120 national employees. ◼️ Overcame logistical, practical and resourcing challenges to complete 20 No.785 rebuilds in an 8-month period, including testing, installation and commissioning. ◼️ Increased overall truck availability from 70%+ 90% via PCR programme implementation. ◼️ Increased excavator and shovel availability from 70%+ to 85% via an improved inspection regime and backlog capturing. ◼️ Supplemented resources with local labour to enable agreed targets to be met.

Nevsun Resources is a leading mid-tier base metals company that operated Bisha, a high-grade open pit copper-zinc mine. As HME Engineer, I managed 22 expatriates and 86 national employees within the HME division. ◼️ Oversaw construction of a new workshop, on schedule and significantly under budget. ◼️ Produced new budgeting format for the site HME department, ensuring a more accurate HME budget to support strategic decision-making. ◼️ Mentored and upskilled many graduates as part of a mentoring scheme to accelerate nationalisation plans.

Reporting to the General Manager, responsibilities were inclusive of but not limited to: • Effective management for a team of 9 expatriates & 128 national workshop staff; • Producing & managing maintenance budgets, ensuring all targets & deadlines were met; • Planning & implementing midlife & major component change outs on fleet; • Monitoring & maintaining OEM contracts for service & parts supply; • Recommending & sourcing new plant as per mine requirements; • Negotiating consignment stock agreements with various suppliers; • Negotiating purchase of second hand machines from various sources; • Establishing stock & producing systems for the maintenance & monitoring of inventory levels.

Reporting to the Company Owner, responsibilities were inclusive of but not limited to: • Assessing & reporting on the sites existing fleet of mobile mining equipment; • Providing recommendations to improve the Aburi Mines existing fleet, assessing the suitability of proposed new equipment & making alternative recommendations when required; • Assessing the standard of national maintenance personnel to produce tailored, individual training programs for each member of the team; • Producing planned maintenance schedules for all fixed & mobile equipment throughout the group; • Establishing stock levels, monitoring & maintaining inventory levels on a continual basis; • Managing maintenance budgets, ensuring all production targets & deadlines are met.

Reporting to the Project Manager, responsibilities were inclusive of but not limited to: • Effective management for a team of 3 expatriates & 75 national workshop staff; • Implementing mentoring schemes for senior national employees; • Planning & implementing fleet midlife & major component change outs; • Liaising with the Client (Energy Resources) regarding national labour laws; • Consulting with the client regarding the design & build of the new site workshop; • Establishing stock & produced systems for the maintenance & monitoring of inventory levels; • Managing maintenance budgets to ensure all production targets & deadlines were met.

Reporting to the General Manager, responsibilities were inclusive of but not limited to: • Effective management for a team of 13 expatriates & 37 national workshop staff; • Planning & implementation of fleet midlife & major component change outs; • Managing maintenance budgets, ensuring all production targets & deadlines were met &/or exceeded; • Conducting accident investigations to identify corrective action to reduce & eliminate risks; • Executing OTJ training for national employees; • Assisting in the production of safety & environmental site plans.
