Coop Student, Human Resources @ Elk Valley Resources
About
Behind every business decision is a people decision. That belief has followed me from corporate HR at Deloitte, PwC, and F5 Networks in India to the operational environment of one of Canada's largest coal mining sites. I recently completed an HR co-op at Elk Valley Resources, where I partnered with operational leaders and HR Advisors across unionized and non-unionized mining operations. The work spanned the full breadth of HR: grievance preparation, collective agreement interpretation, union book-off coordination, workplace investigations, progressive discipline and recognition letters, Drug and Alcohol documentation for arbitration support, SAP transactions, CBA negotiation research, stay and exit interviews, HR dashboards and analytics, employee engagement, and new hire onboarding and orientation. I was trusted with substantive HR work in a high-stakes industrial environment, and that changed how I show up in every difficult conversation, every grievance prep session, and every moment where HR either does something or it doesn't. Before Canada, I spent eight years in HR across Deloitte, PwC, and F5 Networks in India, working in HR analytics, HRBP functions, DEI strategy, compensation and pay equity, Employee Resource Groups, full-cycle recruitment, performance management, and employee relations across organizations ranging from 300 to 5,000 employees. What ties all of it together is a simple belief about what good HR looks like: steady when things get complicated, grounded when emotions run high, and willing to have the hard conversation rather than hide behind policy. I am graduating from Thompson Rivers University in December 2026 with a Post-Baccalaureate in HRM and will obtain my CPHR candidacy upon graduation. I am targeting HR Advisor, HRBP, or Labour Relations roles in Canada from January 2027. If that sounds like your team, I would like to connect.
