Don Wood

Senior Managing Director @ WA Appliance Parts - Parts Shop Pty Ltd

About

Don Wood is a well recognised name in Australia’s appliance and service industry — a determined founder who has honed his skills since childhood to build a group of businesses under New Eco Group Pty Ltd, each designed to keep homes and industries running with practical, reliable solutions that simply work. Don’s journey started far from boardrooms and spreadsheets — he grew up building cubby houses out of old washing machine bodies, collecting scrap parts and creating something useful from what others threw away. At just 11 years old, Don was already repairing appliances in his father’s workshop, gaining hands-on experience and learning the discipline of clear systems, real tools, and honest work that still drives him today. In 2012, Don took that spirit abroad and built an LED lighting company from scratch in Germany, specialising in industrial and agricultural lighting solutions for farms, greenhouses, and massive warehouse spaces across Europe. Travelling thousands of kilometres in an old BMW, he knocked on doors, built relationships face to face, designed lighting layouts with DIALux, and made deals happen the old-fashioned way. This relentless hustle and real-world sales grounding shaped his passion for no-nonsense quality and service. Returning home to Australia in 2015, Don founded New Eco Group, bringing with it his first local venture — The Repair Guy. What started with a few second-hand tools, a Bongo van, and a handful of loyal customers has grown into a trusted appliance repair service relied on by thousands of families and property managers across WA. The Repair Guy sets the standard for transparent, dependable repairs done right the first time, every time. To secure the parts supply behind this promise, Don built Perth Appliance Spares, which has grown into one of Australia’s largest privately owned appliance spare parts providers. In November 2024, the business proudly expanded to a new 2,000sqm warehouse in Midvale, WA — a milestone that ensures tradespeople, businesses, and homeowners have fast, reliable access to the genuine parts they need. Never content to sit still, Don added HotCold, the Group’s dedicated HVAC division, in October 2024 — providing expert air conditioning, heating, cooling, and refrigeration services across Perth. He also leads WATECH Filtration, delivering clean, efficient water solutions without the sales gimmicks. From scrap parts in a backyard cubby to a thriving national network, Don’s mission has never changed: build practical systems, back them with genuine service, and do the job properly
