I was the Systems Lead for the WSU Solar Car Team, designing & building a cutting edge, highly efficient solar-power race vehicle as part of a student team. We have taken our vehicle to the 2023 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, becoming the only Australian team to complete the challenge, placing 9th in the world! Our car, Unlimited 5.0, is a carbon composite 3-wheeler with a 4m^2 Silicone Solar Array and a LFP battery pack in a monohull outer-shell. In my role, I work to set the technical configuration for our cars, setting system objectives and restraints to allow the development of cohesive mechanical, electrical and strategy packages that come together in harmony. I set and manage technical processes involving design, simulation and manufacturing workflows, that aims to develop an efficient solar racer made to the highest industry standards. In addition to this, I led the aerodynamic design team, working to optimise the external design of the car through CAD surface modelling and CFD analysis in order to create a highly energy-efficient vehicle.
