NIDHI-EIR Fellow Department of Science and Technology (DST) has announced National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations (NIDHI) as an umbrella programme for nurturing ideas and innovations (knowledge-based and technology-driven) into successful startups. Entrepreneurs-in- Residence (EIR) Programme is one of the programs introduced under NIDHI to inspire the best talents to be entrepreneurs, to minimise the risk involved in pursuing start- ups, and to partially set off their opportunity costs of high paying jobs. The NIDHI-EIR programme provides tremendous opportunities for innovative entrepreneurs to expand their networks and get critical feedback on their ventures in order to promote their entrepreneurial career goals and aspirations.

Social Innovator Social Innovation Immersion Program (SIIP) Fellow SIIP is BIRAC’s social Innovation fellowship/award program aimed at creating a pool of biotech “Social Innovators” who can identify needs & gaps within communities and then can help bridge the gaps either through an innovative product development or services.

Environmental Information system (ENVIS) Centre for urban Municipal Solid Waste for Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. The Economic Division implements the Environmental Information System (ENVIS) Scheme. The ENVIS serves as a single-stop web-enabled repository of comprehensive environmental information with collection, collation, storage, retrieval and dissemination of the same through a nationwide network of ENVIS Hubs (hosted by the Environment/ Forest Department of State Governments/ UT Administrations) and ENVIS Resource Partners (RPs) (hosted by environment related governmental and non-governmental organizations/institutes of professional excellence). Goals of ENVIS Scheme: - To build up a repository and dissemination centre in Environmental Science and Engineering. - To enable application of modern technologies of acquisition, processing, storage, retrieval and dissemination of information of environmental nature. - To support and promote research, development and innovation in environmental information technology. - To provide national environmental information services relevant to present needs and those capable of development to meet future needs of users, originators, processors and disseminators. - To build up storage, retrieval and dissemination capabilities, with the ultimate objective of disseminating information speedily to the users. - To promote national and international cooperation and liaise with agencies concerned for exchange of environment related information. - To promote, support and assist education and personnel training programmes designed to enhance environmental information processing and utilising capabilities. - To promote exchange of information amongst developing countries.
