My role as Retail Logistics manager was primarily concerned with the management of the companies’ retail supply chain. While the primary focus of the role surrounded operational areas such as the logistics function and warehousing, the dynamic nature of the business meant that effective internal communication with all departments was pivotal. During my time in this role, I gained experience of working with all departments from finance to marketing, and was challenged with ensuring that activities were coordinated to deliver the highest level of customer service possible. I was responsible for forecasting demand of the various retail clients, purchasing of high value items from overseas manufacturers and suppliers as well as being a liaison with both customers and suppliers on a daily basis. The diversity of this role has led to my development in a number of areas, from management to my approach to learning and my ability to prioritise and work precisely and quickly. Key Accountabilities included: * Procurement of goods and services from domestic and overseas suppliers. * Forecasting of customer demand to ensure high service levels whilst ensuring an inventory age of less than 30 days. * Acquisition of freight forwarding agents, negotiation of rates and application of SOP’s to ensure the highest level of service possible. * Customer order book management and coordination of distribution activities to meet deadlines. * Supplier Liaison with both domestic and overseas suppliers, daily contact with Hong Kong and China regarding order status, logistics activity and quality assurance procedure. * Working with company directors regard to high value forecasting and purchasing decisions * Management of a skilled team * Coordinating internal departments and stakeholders to achieve company goals

My role as logistics clerk surrounded the effective administration of the companies' logistics activities, and the provision of customer service to the retail client portfolio. This role allowed me to work closely with customers regarding their orders, and apply my skills to meet or beat required deadlines. This role allowed me to quickly develop my customer service skills, my ability to work in a fast paced and high pressure environment, but also helped to better my understanding of the interaction of different business departments. Key responsibilities included: * Daily customer and freight forwarder contact to ensure adherence to expectation * Meet target inventory levels and reduce inventory age * General administration such as entering sales invoices, arranging haulage, booking in procedure for various retailers. * Planning of production requirements and ensuring availability of raw and sundry materials
