• Designing a custom 4-layer PCB that connects to a Raspberry Pi to simplify wiring and improve signal integrity of 16 medium frequency level shifted outputs. Designing using Altium Designer and Autodesk Fusion 360. • Created a fork of open-source thermostat firmware and reverse engineered the mapping of data points between the Wi-Fi chip and the main control unit. Modified C code to adapt the firmware to a different device and enable automated remote control of the thermostat. • Modified a Python driver for the MPR121 sensor to detect capacitive touches through a non-conductive surface. Experimented with different electrode wiring methods to achieve lower capacitance and higher sensor sensitivity.

Discovered a safety deficiency and developed operator mitigation procedures that allowed the system to be used safely until a fix was implemented. • Wrote code in MATLAB to improve a data analysis tool. My updates made it easier for engineers to visualize and interpret test results, and to track system performance across multiple tests.
