David Astill

Managing Director and Executive Board member, David has almost 40 years practical experience in the commercial bus industry. Prior to joining NCT David worked as an General Manager and Area Manager for FirstGroup PLC, a FTSE 100 bus and train business and prior to that gained experience of heading-up an independent management-owned bus operation in Greater Manchester. Prior to taking over as MD, David held the post for 13 years as Commercial & Operations Director during which time NCT was recognised as the best bus company in the UK four times at the UK Bus Awards. NCT has also been able to boast the Top National Bus Driver four times in just eight years! David works tirelessly to promote the bus industry as an active board member of ALBUM (Association of Local Bus Managers) and has recently accepted the position as Chair of the East Midlands Region of CPT (Confederation of Passenger Transport). He is also a member of the Bus Commission, the negotiating body between the bus industry and the Department for Transport. David has gained an honours degree (BA) and post-graduate masters degree (MSc) in transport management and is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport & Logistics
