Lighting solutions design: - Remote Phosphor technology - Acrich2+ based designs - Design for lamp bulb replacements. - Design for 12-240VDC/AC LED and constant current applications. - PWM driving. - LED array design in infra red, visible and ultra violet ranges. - PCB design, prototyping (milling prototyping machine) and testing (FR4 and IMS PCB's). - SolidWorks design on metallic and plastic enclosures, and custom parts. Software design: - Creation of a program in Python language to control a GPS/GSM vehicle tracker. - Comunicating with the GPS device (Telit GE-863GPS and GE-864GPS) through AT commands and manipulation of the device's data and its configuration. - Upgrading this tracker to GE-864GPS, redesigning the project to include a PIC16F616 micro-controller (programmed in C) in order to control certain features of the tracker. Hardware design: - Redesigning the tracker to be more compact and to have internal GPS and GSM antennae, and to include the mentioned PIC16F616. This included a complete hardware redesign in Protel and RF design due to the use of a surface mount GSM antenna. - 555 timer board to activate a solenoid and a buzzer after a certain amount of time, to remember the user to switch it off. This project included hardware design, prototype PCB etching and circuit testing. - Redesigning LED boards for beer pumps for an ale producer. This included hardware design, two prototypes of each and circuit testing.

Course focused a wide variety of areas: advanced mathmatics, analogue and digital electronics, RF engineering, electromagnetics, design, C programming, Assembler programming, micro and nanotechnology, engineering management, business development, integrated circuit engineering and wireless systems. "Robot Project" - 2nd year project, successfully concluded. Designed from start to finish on Solidworks and Easy-PC PCB designer. "Optical Detection of Cells in Microfluidic Channels" - 3rd year project, combining Optoelectronics with Chemistry, Biology and Microfluidics. Designed from start to finish on Solidworks.
